Tag Rugby Tournament

In the lovely autumnal sunshine, Year 3 and 4 played great games of tag rugby against other local schools. All our recent training, drills and mini games paid off and we certainly improved during the afternoon. Great to have a few family members popping in to cheer us along too. We took two teams and came 3rd and 5th out of 13 teams and there were lots of smiles, cheers and good sportsmanship on show.
Thanks to Penny at Dallam for organising the whole event and to the subs for taking all these photos – some great action shots!

Pupil Parliament

img_1889The Levens Pupil Parliament Team of Olly, Rosie, Alfie and Amelia travelled to Storth Primary School on 28th November, at the invitation of Storth School Council, to meet with Tim Farron and participate in a question and answer session. Our team were keen to know, what Mr Farron intended to do about Village speeding, what MP’s did when they lost their seats in Parliament, if Mr Farron found it difficult to do what constituents wanted if he didn’t agree with what they were wanting and why politicians didn’t always deliver on their promises. Tim took it all in his stride, responding with sincerity and humour that kept his entire audience engaged and amused. Our team were mature, confident speakers and brilliant ambassadors – a joy to accompany in fact!

Bowfell Class Outdoors

We are in the process of developing our outdoor area and improving the opportunities we can provide the children on a daily basis, in all weathers.

To get us started the year 1 children set about sweeping the leaves from our playground today.

This is great for developing our upper body muscles and core strength, all of which helps with our coordination and motor contol.

We have made a bird hide in our teepee. We have been using binoculars to look for birds and recording which ones we have spotted.  We have also made bird feeders out of cheerios and lego, to hopefully attract the birds to visit us. We just need to try and be quiet for long enough, its very tricky!

Netball match

After school today Storth School came to play against us in netball. We had a great time, dodging, passing and shooting! The game ended with Storth in the lead but great sportsmanship was evident on both sides. Thank you very much to Mrs Whinstanley who stayed to give our team coaching tips from the side lines, to Mrs Coker for supplying orange juice for thirsty players and to Mrs Craggs for umpiring and providing much enjoyed oranges! It was also great to have Miss Taylor and parents cheering us on from the side lines too.

A Spotacular day for Children In Need

The whole school have had a brilliant day raising money for Children In Need.

The School Council ran a cake sale at playtime, under expert supervision of Mrs Mason. Thank you for all your kind donations.

We all donated £1 to wear spots for the day. Here are our two youngest children showing off their spots!

The School Council also volunteered to make a cake each to be raffled. Everyone tried their luck and bought a ticket. The lucky winners were announced in Good Work Assembly.

Boxes of Hope

The volunteers from the Boxes of Hope collected our shoesboxes yesterday. In all we sent 20 shoe boxes which will be distributed with thousands of other donations to children in Romania.

A big thank you to those who filled a shoe box this year.

Yoyo fun

Our favourite things at Yoyo club include…

building with Lego, drawing, colouring, playing with the farm and cars, reading books together, playing catch or football, making dens, baking, playing café, playdough and lots more.

At snack time we have carrots, apples, grapes, oranges, biscuits and juice – Yum!

Autumn Disco

Lots of fun and dancing was had on Wednesday evening, the girls looking lovely and the boys playing it cool!

School Council ran the games, with the help of our super DJs.

We had a special visit from Pudsy Bear this afternoon. He came in preparation for Children in Need day on Friday. You’ll see us dressed in spots, selling cakes and holding a cake raffle to raise funds this Friday.
