Oh carrots!
We’ve been reading Oliver’s Vegetables this week and thinking about how we can look after our bodies and stay healthy.

Well done to our amazing football team who this afternoon battled the torrential rain to play in the Dallam Primary Cub Challenge! They played 3, securing victory in two and a draw in the third. Special congratulations to Kacper and Alfie who scored the winning goals and thanks to Mrs Cattermole; this afternoon’s team coach!
Last week, our Year 6 pupils enjoyed ‘Musical in a Day’ at QKS. They worked together and collaborated well with other local primary schools to jointly retell the story of Joseph through music, drama and dance. We also learnt how to fit a biblical tea-towel correctly. The children wowed their audience at the end of the afternoon. Well done everyone!
‘QKS was really exciting; we all enjoyed it. During the day, we sang, danced and acted. At the end of our day we performed our musical for our parents combining the three skills together.’ by Kacper.
Today Reception and Nursery had a go at Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle. We listened to ABC by the Jackson 5 and waved our ribbons up and down, in both hands, in time to the music. We then had a go on large pieces of paper. The children had a crayon in each hand and moved up and down the page in time the music. It’s great fun! Keep a look out for more ‘squiggling’ action!
In Skiddaw, we are starting our Ancient Greeks topic by looking at the Olympic Games. We have spent the afternoon creating art inspired by the Olympic Rings. We made lots of decisions as we experimented with printing, drawing, model making and using compasses to draw circles. These are some of our creations.
Our nursery children have settled into Bowfell Class beautifully. They are happy, confident and enthusiastic. The children have worked together with our Reception and Year 1 children and have enjoyed exploring our classroom environment.
Our new Year 2 children have been settling in really well. Here are some of them, working on counting and using special counting blocks to represent tens and units numbers.
First week of the new year and Scafell Class have been learning to work well as a team! We had to use our communication skills, our patience and adapt our strategies to succeed in each of the challenges! It was great fun!
Skiddaw Class and Scafell Class enjoyed a day at County Show despite torrential rain and lots and lots of mud! We even managed to see some of our own pupils showing their livestock! And would you believe….. dancing sheep!! What a great day out!
Our display for the Westmorland County Show is up and ready for people to visit in the Learning for Life tent tomorrow. Our ‘Best of British’ display is full of photographs, artwork and even afternoon tea!
